Senior Systems Engineer, Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Jake has a wife and two boys at home that always get his attention first. They remind him that his career is just part of who he is. Throughout the years, Jake has held several jobs on his way to becoming an IT professional including a lifeguard, waiter, shelf stocker, tour guide, caterer, and a high school teacher. He now works at a children’s hospital where his IT work helps support a greater mission.
Jake grew his IT career on the Microsoft technology stack starting with phone support, then deskside support, on to OS and software deployment and later to Windows Server administration. Along the way, he’s had his hands on various technologies. Currently, he’s on a team to support Windows Server Infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI and assists the team with cloud services like AWS and Azure. On top of this, he supports SolarWinds Orion Platform, automation technologies, and even things like git repositories. Jake wants to be known not as the guy who knows a technology, but as the guy who will help solve a problem.
